Phovia Fluorescent Light Therapy

Dermatological conditions can be complex. Especially when we are dealing with our pets. Phovia Fluorescent Light Therapy helps speed up healing in dogs and cats with dermatological conditions like:

  • Hot spots
  • Bite wounds
  • Scratches
  • Lesions from continuous licking
  • Traumatic wounds
  • Skin infections
  • Surgical incisions
  • And many more!

When your pet has a wound, call your veterinarian to learn how Fluorescent Light Therapy can help encourage faster healing. A Phovia session just takes minutes. Appointments are fast and non-invasive!

Fluorescent Light Therapy gives your pet’s cells the energy needed to heal themselves more quickly. It helps heal breaks in your pet’s skin barrier up to twice as fast as alternatives. Not all light can effectively speed healing. The light source must be at the right wavelength, distance, and duration to work — and Phovia is designed specifically for pets. Faster healing time means less time spent in cones and bandages for your pet.

FLE (Fluorescent Light Energy) requires no at-home treatment or maintenance. However, your veterinarian may recommend other medical treatments in conjunction with FLE such as; immunomodulators, steroids, and antibiotics that would require at-home care. FLE Phovia treatment has been proven to speed healing time when compared to antibiotic and topical treatments alone.

Despite exerting a biological effect, Phovia is safe for users and pets. The Phovia Treatment has two components:

  1. The LED Lamp which emits blue, low-energy light
  2. The Gel which is a unique topical photoconverter activated by fluorescent light energy (FLE)

The combination of light and chromophore gel helps speed up cell regeneration and growth. This leads to a quicker, and more complete, healing time. How does it do this? Well, FLE uses energy from visible and near infra-red light to stimulate cell regrowth and healing through a process called photobiomodulation.

How Photobiomodulation Works

  • Positively influences electron transfer and proton transportation
  • Increases mitochondrial ATP production
  • Increases the amount of energy available for the cell to heal
Photobiomodulation is shown to stimulate the secretion of:
  • Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF): REDUCES Inflammation
  • Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF): BOOSTS Local Immunity
  • Fibroblast Growth Factors (FGFs): INCREASES Energy Production
  • Transforming Growth Factor Beta (TGF-β): SPEEDS UP Cell Replacement
  • Collagen: IMPROVES Blood Flow

How is Phovia different than laser therapy?

Traditional therapy laser requires very precise positioning to ensure optimal beam delivery intensity and often covers a smaller treatment area. In addition, lasers require more frequent and longer treatments, up to 15 minutes each.

While most light therapy systems are limited to a single wavelength, addressing at most one level of the skin, the Phovia chromophores release Fluorescent Light Energy at multiple wavelengths, giving multiple beneficial cellular responses simultaneously.
